Wow. I can’t believe it’s been over a month since I’ve posted! Time has really slipped away from me this summer, but I hope to make up for that. This week I finally arrived home after my two-month stay in southwest Michigan, which was beautiful and mild with the average temperature in the 70s. I didn’t miss the sweltering Georgia humidity, but I’m happy to be home. And my cats are delighted to finally get to go outside again. My kids are dreading the commencement of school in just over a week (yes, as ridiculous as it sounds they start school in the middle of summer here). And that means I’ll have much more time to dedicate to my writing and revisions.
Speaking of writing, did I mention that I finally finished my first draft of Neverland Academy this summer? Woohoo! It took me much longer than anticipated, but I did it. And after a two-week break, I’m ready to dive back into it again with the second draft. I’m a little concerned that the first chapter is too boring. There’s not a lot of action going on, although the reader will get quite a bit of background information about some of the characters. I suppose I’ll let my future beta readers advise me on that.
Although I’ll be primarily working on Neverland Academy for the next month or two, I’m also getting revved up for my next book (series). I don’t want to give anything away but I will be getting back into another action-packed dystopia with an original idea. Can’t wait to share it!
